Gaillardia Pulchella Growing Season In India
Gaillardia thrives in dry and hot conditions, you can sow the gaillardia blanket flower seeds during summer (May to July). In the warm areas where winter is mild, fall (September-November) is the gaillardia sowing season. 

How To Grow Gaillardia Pulchella (Firewheel) Flower 
You can sow gaillardia seeds directly into the garden or pot/grow bag or germinate the seeds in seedling trays and then transplant them to the final pot or location. The best temperature for gaillardia seeds to germinate is around 10-21°C. 

Gaillardia Pulchella Mix Seeds Sowing Method 
Take a seedling tray and fill it with a potting mix, you can also germinate the gaillardia seeds in a coco peat coin. Sow 1-2 gaillardia seeds in each cell at 0.3 cm deep in the soil. Water the soil through a watering can. Keep soil moist and place the seedling tray in a sunny spot as gaillardia seeds need light to germinate. Gaillardia seeds germinate in about 7-15 days. 
You can transplant Gaillardia plants when the seedlings have 3-5 leaves or they have grown to 8-10 cm tall. Plant only 1-2 Gaillardia seedlings per pot for healthy growth. 

Fertilizer Requirements For Gaillardia Pulchella Plants
Gaillardia grows well in poor soil and encourages more flowering in poor soil as compared to planting in rich soil. Do not add any fertilizer, even if you want to add manure, then cow dung manure will be good for this.

Gaillardia Flower Plants Care Tips 
Soil : Use low-nutrient, poor but well-drained soil for planting gaillardia flowers. 
Water : Give water freely during the initial stage of the Gaillardia plant and then you can reduce watering as they become drought tolerant once established. You can give water 1-2 times a week but do not let the soil dry.
Sunlight : Gaillardia thrives in full sunlight and can tolerate shade but does not grow profusely in shade. 
Temperature : Gaillardia flower plants grow best in temperatures between 10-25°C. 
Common pests and diseases : Pests such as leaf hoppers, aphids and ladybugs stunt plant growth. And aster yellow is a viral disease that infects the Gaillardia plant so it is best to remove the infected plant to avoid the spread of these diseases. You can use neem oil on the plant to control these pests.

Gaillardia Pulchella Bloom Time 
Blanket or Gaillardia flowers bloom 45-60 days after transplant and the bloom period lasts for 8 weeks or more. Usually, gaillardia blooms from mid-Summer to Monsoon (May to August).
