Bog Wood
Bog Wood
Bogwood is a favorite piece of aquarium décor. It is simple to use, resembles a submerged stump or branch, and can be used in a variety of aquascape designs.
Highlights
Bog Wood is dark brown & black in color with many holes and caves and has an overall extraordinary texture. The tannin released from the wood is completely safe for fish. It can acidify and soften water, however, lowering pH.
Bogwood when added to an aquarium turns it from a two-dimensional glass box to a three-dimensional aquatic environment.
It is a powerful piece of décor that sets the aquascape design as a piece of wood and catches the attention of an onlooker.
Freshwater fish and shrimp prefer Bogwood because it gives them a more natural habitat.
A favorite among cichlids and full-bodied fish. Its holes and caves serve as hiding places for fish. It is very safe to use and serves as a safe bed for fish.
Fish lay their eggs right on the wood and also provide a “home base” for them to swim to if they detect other fish approaching too closely.
Bogwood provides a great environment for the growth of algae and microorganisms.
Why is it an ideal pick by aquascapers?
Bog Wood is used in aquascaping as it makes woodworking fun. It is added in aquariums for aesthetic purposes.
Bogwood adds beauty, attractiveness and grandeur to Mountains, Jungles, Waterfalls, Deserts and other aquascaping designs.
