Safed musli belongs to the family Lilliaceae and is one of the important endangered Indian herbal. Safed musli is a herb with lanceolate leaves, from tropical wet forests in peninsular India. It is eaten as a leaf vegetable in some parts of India and its roots are used as a health tonic under the name safed musli. It is an annual herb having an average height of 30-40 cm. Flowers are star-shaped, 2 cm across and yellow or green in color. Fruits are greenish to yellow in color and are mainly produced in July-December.
