How To Grow Mustard Microgreen Seeds

Selecting Seeds
Choose high-quality mustard seeds specifically labeled for microgreen production. Brown mustard seeds are a popular choice.

Planting Medium
Fill a shallow tray or container with a soilless growing medium. Many growers use coconut coir, peat moss or a seed-starting mix.

Sowing Seeds
Sprinkle mustard seeds evenly across the surface of the growing medium. Press them down lightly to ensure good seed-to-soil contact.

Watering
Water the seeds thoroughly after planting. Maintain consistent moisture throughout the growing period, but avoid waterlogging.

Covering Seeds
Optionally, cover the seeds with a thin layer of soil or vermiculite. This can help with moisture retention and seed germination.

Providing Light
Place the tray in a location with indirect sunlight or under grow lights. Mustard microgreens don't require direct sun but need good light for healthy growth.

Germination
Mustard seeds will germinate in a few days. Once the seedlings are about 1-2 inches tall, they are ready for the next step.

Harvesting
• Harvest mustard microgreens when they reach a height of 1 to 2 inches. Use scissors to cut them just above the soil level.
• Incorporate freshly harvested mustard microgreens into salads, sandwiches, wraps, or as a flavorful garnish for various dishes.
