Ornamental Multi color Corn Planting Time:
Plant ornamental corn seeds directly in the garden after the last frost in spring. The soil temperature should be consistently above 50°F (10°C) for germination.

Preparing the Soil:
Ornamental corn prefers well-draining soil with a slightly acidic to neutral pH. Work the soil to a depth of at least 6-8 inches and amend it with compost if needed.

Planting Depth:
Plant the ornamental corn seeds about 1-2 inches deep in the soil. Space the seeds or seedlings according to the recommendations on the seed packet or plant tag.

Watering:
Water the area thoroughly after planting. Keep the soil consistently moist during the germination period. Once the plants are established, water them regularly, providing about 1-1.5 inches of water per week.

Fertilizing (Optional):
If the soil is not rich in nutrients, you can fertilize ornamental corn with a balanced fertilizer according to the package instructions. Apply the fertilizer when the plants are about 6 inches tall.

Mulching (Optional):
Applying a layer of mulch around the ornamental corn plants can help conserve moisture, suppress weeds and maintain a more even soil temperature.

Caring for Plants:
Ornamental corn is generally low-maintenance. Keep an eye out for pests such as corn earworms and treat them with appropriate methods if necessary. Provide support for the plants if they become top-heavy as they grow.

Harvesting (Optional):
Ornamental corn is often grown for decorative purposes rather than consumption. However, if you’d like to harvest the ears, wait until the corn has dried on the stalk. Harvest before the first frost, and allow the ears to dry further in a warm, dry place. After the growing season, remove the dried stalks and debris from the garden to prevent disease and pests.
