Common Cress is one of the oldest well known leafy microgreens consumed by humans and is grown for its super flavor. Cress Growing Season In India
Cress Common is a winter season herb but if you are growing cress as microgreens then you can grow it indoor in any season. It grows rapidly in mild cool climates and the most favorable season for sowing seeds of cress leafy plants is spring (February to April).

How To Grow Cress In Container
Common Cress is a leafy plant that grows best in mild cool and moist soil. Microgreen cress common seeds are usually sown directly into growing trays at least 2.5 cm deep. Cress Common seeds germinates best in cool conditions (50-75°F or 10-24°C) but not frigid. Like other microgreens, cress can be grown on paper kitchen towel, tissue paper or cotton wool because it doesn’t require soil and can germinate right on the cotton wool and tissue paper but most of the people prefer to grow in soil. Be sure to keep the seedlings moist or else the microgreens will die.

Cress Seeds Sowing Method
To grow cress common microgreens, take a growing tray with potting mix (organic potting soil and coco peat in equal ratio) or soilless medium then spread the cress seeds into the soil. Keep the seedling moist but not soggy. You can keep seedling indoor or outdoor as microgreens need about 4-6 hours daily of direct sunlight to thrive. It will take 2-6 days to germinate cress seeds (depending on growing conditions).

How To Fertilize Cress Plant
Cress common microgreens can germinate without any fertilizer; however, providing mineral nutrients to cress common microgreens will increase yields.

Water : Cress as a microgreens need proper water to grow well; give regular water, keep soil moist and avoid over watering.
Soil : Cress should be planted in consistently wet soil with a soil pH of 6.5 to 7.5.
Sunlight : Cress require at least 4-6 hours of natural sunlight every day.
Temperature : Ideal growing temperature for cress is between 10-24 degree Celsius.
Common pests and disease : Some pests like snail, whiteflies and spider mites that can eat the leaves of cress plant. To avoid these pests use neem oil spray on cress plants.

Cress Microgreens Harvesting
• If you are growing cress to the microgreen stage, it’ll take 10-14 days and if growing to true leaf stage, it will take about 15-25 days.
• Cut the cress leaves when they are about 5-8 cm high; once cut, microgreens will not regrow.
• Harvest the cress leaves with sharp scissor and you'll enjoy a consistent harvest if you keep sowing seeds every few weeks.
