Coleus Growing Season In India
Coleus grows best in warm and sunny weather. You can sow the seeds in spring (February-March) and summer (April-June). Additionally, you can plant coleus in the rainy season (July-September).

How To Grow Coleus In Pots
Sow the coleus flower seeds in a seedlings tray or small pots then transplant them into big pots or gardens. The best temperature for coleus seed germination is between 21-23°C. A Pot or grow bag of at least 22-35 cm is good.

Coleus Rainbow Seeds Sowing Method
• Take a seedling tray, fill it with potting mix and water the potting soil mix deeply. Spread the coleus mix seeds over the soil. Lightly cover the seeds with a sprinkling of the potting mix because coleus seeds are tiny so they do not need to be covered with a thick layer of soil. Place the seedling tray in a bright spot and warm it until the seeds germinate. It takes about 3 weeks or sometimes 4 weeks for them to germinate.
• After coleus seeds germinate and when the first true leaves appear, you need to transplant the seedling into a larger pot. Plant only 1-2 seedlings in each 22 cm pot for healthy growth. Keep the soil moist and place the pot in partial sunlight for a few days after transplanting to protect the seedling from transplant shock. After 3 days, keep the pot in full sunlight.

Fertilizer Requirements For Coleus
You can apply a water-soluble fertilizer such as organic liquid fertilizer, neem cake or plant growth promoter once a month to enhance the color of the coleus plant.

Coleus Plant Care Tips
Soil : Use moist, rich, loose and well-draining soil to plant coleus. You can amend the soil with compost to improve the quality of the soil.
Water : Coleus grown in a container requires more water than coleus planted in the garden. Water outdoor coleus plants twice a day and, if grown indoors, only when the top soil is dry.
Sunlight : Coleus grows best in 6-8 hours of sunlight however, it can tolerate partial shade.
Temperature : Coleus plants are cold-sensitive and require temperatures above 15°C during summer and above 10°C in winter. The best-growing temperature is between 18-30°C.
Common pests and diseases : Certain pests such as aphids, mealybugs and spider mites inhibit coleus flower plant growth, and diseases such as powdery mildew and fungal infections infect the plant. These diseases thrive during cool and damp weather.

Coleus Blooming Time
• As I mentioned earlier, coleus is not popular for its flowers but for its attractive foliage.
• They bloom seasonally in spikes you can cut to encourage new leaf growth. Once the plant blooms and starts producing seeds, they stop growing and die.
• Coleus plants are toxic to dogs, cats, and horses.
